Choosing Your Font

Our name signs come in two script fonts. Both are cut as one joined piece, with the letters flowing into each other the way they would if you wrote the name by hand.

Updated

In short: choose Swirly for a classic calligraphy look, with thick and thin strokes and looping capitals, or Scribble for a relaxed handwritten look with an even line.

Try both before you choose

Type the name into our Name Sign Designer to see it in Swirly and Scribble, at the size you want. The letters join the way we cut them, so what you see is the shape you'll get.

Dots, accents, capitals and spelling

  • Dots and accents: on signs of 30 cm and up, it's your choice. The dots on i and j, and accents such as the one on é, can be joined to their letter, so the whole name is one piece, or cut as separate little pieces for you to stick on. Say which you'd like in your personalisation; if you don't, we join them. On smaller signs they're always joined, as separate pieces would be too small to handle.
  • Capitals: we make the first letter a capital and the rest lowercase, unless you tell us otherwise.
  • Spelling: we cut the spelling exactly as you type it, so check it before you order.

Fonts for Christmas pieces

Our Christmas place names and decorations are engraved with the name rather than cut out, in Swirly or Nordic Script, which has neat, hand-printed capitals. We recommend up to two words per piece, so the lettering stays crisp.

Questions

What's the difference between Swirly and Scribble?

Swirly is a classic calligraphy script, with thick and thin strokes and looping capitals. Scribble is a relaxed handwritten script with an even line, like writing with a pen. Both are cut as one joined piece, with the letters flowing into each other.

Can the dots and accents be separate?

Yes, on signs of 30 cm and up, where it's your choice.

How do capital letters work?

We make the first letter a capital and the rest lowercase, unless you tell us otherwise in the personalisation box. We cut the spelling exactly as you type it, so please check it before you order.

Which fonts do the Christmas decorations use?

Our Christmas place names and decorations are engraved in Swirly or Nordic Script, which has neat, hand-printed capitals.
